![]() ![]() ![]() This was done as a temporary measure since the revision 1.1 ROM of this game is not known to be dumped yet. This BPS patch must be applied to the revision 1.0 ROM of Rockman EXE 4: Tournament Blue Moon. IMPORTANT: Despite the above, for Rockman EXE 4: Tournament Blue Moon ONLY, a BPS patch is provided instead of an IPS patch. Be sure to apply the patches for these to the proper ROM revision. IMPORTANT: The Japanese Virtual Console versions of Rockman EXE 1, EXE 2, EXE 3 (regular and BLACK) and EXE 4 (Red Sun and Blue Moon) are based on the revision 1.1 ROMs. Note that some of the games share the same IPS patch for the North American and European version. One of the patches is in BPS format, which you can apply using the tool Floating IPS.Īs of now there are patches available for every single version, except for the European version of Battle Network 2, because the European Virtual Console version uses the North American ROM. The patches are in IPS format, which can be applied using Lunar IPS or similar tools. They can be applied to the GBA ROMs to turn them into their Virtual Console counterparts. You can find all patches in the ZIP file below. Note how the floor panels are less shiny and use softer colors. I have not documented all palette differences, but here is an example from BN3: This might also have something to do with the fact that the GBA Virtual Console emulator performs gamma correction. Finally, the devs went and revised a number of palettes in all of the games in order to improve the contrast and make them easier on the eyes, or to remove effects that could be seizure inducing. In BN5, a frame blending effect is applied in ACDC Town for some reason. There were fixed as well, on the ROM level. In BN4, certain chips had programming glitches that didn't show up on the GBA.In the case of BN4, a cheat code was also added to the title screen that lets you fight BassXX without the need of Mod Cards. In BN5, said feature also unlocks the BassCross MegaMan Mod Card for use in the game. These and other features are actually implemented as ROM hacks as opposed to by the Virtual Console emulator. As we know, BN2 through BN6 added a feature that gives you all multiplayer-only BattleChips simply by entering the Network/Comm.So what exactly is noteworthy about these versions? Well, a number of modifications were made to the ROM images, which basically means they're "official" ROM hacks by Nintendo or Capcom (not sure who made them). Thanks to ubergeek77, VinsCool and goodtofufriday for their contributions. I've personally dumped the European and Japanese versions of all the games, as well as verified the North American versions. These versions have a number of changes from their retail GBA versions. In this thread you'll find IPS patches that convert the GBA ROMs of the Mega Man Battle Network / Rockman EXE games into their Wii U Virtual Console versions. ![]() It’s not just the version differences that this collection will include, ut there’s 15 downloadable Battle Chips that were originally only available at promotional events in Japan. For a full overview of Virtual Console differences, see this thread. The collection includes 10 games, but Mega Man Battle Network lifted Pokémon’s release style with multiple variants of Mega Man Battle Network 3 and later. MMBN3 brought the best-of-three Triple Battles, while MMBN4 had the Version Battles returning. The multiplayer on GBA is now limited by needing to be in the same physical space and connected by a cable, but the wonders of the modern day allow Capcom to add in online multiplayer for battles, chip trades and other features. There’s an optional high-resolution filter, for one thing, but more important is the support for online play. The games are all presented in their original GBA 3:2 aspect ratio, with artwork around the edges, just as you’d expect from a retro collection, but have been enhanced in a variety of ways. Originally released for the Game Boy Advance from 2001 through 2005 – they really churned them out! – Mega Man Battle Network puts you in control of MegaMan.EXE, a NetNavi that’s operated by Lan Hiraki as they try to foil the schemes of the online crime organisation WWW. Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection was announced earlier this year, reviving the tactical RPG spin-off series for modern platforms. ![]()
